The Principal, Dr. B. T. Purohit, is the backbone of the institution. His dynamic and intelligent leadership has led to the phenomenal growth of the college. His altruistic and industrious nature has been a key factor in the expansion and success of the institution.

The college aims to broaden students’ outlook by emphasizing values and virtues through education. It promotes positive thinking, analytical skills, and strong moral and social values. For the teachers of this college, teaching is a mission—a lifelong commitment and a profession, not just an occupation. They continuously strive to stay updated with the latest developments in their respective fields.

Our Mission: To evolve and execute educational and development programmes training, Faculty enrichment programmes, social awarness programmes, knowledge acquistion, developments and extension of frontiers of knowledge in the interest of community at large.

Student Activities

NSS NSS provides an excellent opportunity to the students who desire to serve the community and to develop interpersonal relationships and skills. Objective of NSS "Serve the downtrodden in the society and Personality Development through Community Service".

The motto of NSS is "NOT ME BUT YOU". It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole. This expresses the essence of democratic living and upholds the need of selfless service and appreciation of the other man's' point of view and also consideration for fellow human beings. Four units of N.S.S., having 400 students, are working actively in this college. Different activities of N.S.S. help them in developing various qualities such as self-discipline, duty consciousness, self reliance, leadership, personality development and above all the role of youth in national development. Under N.S.S. various activities like Plantation , Blood Donation, Cleanliness of Village, Awareness about AIDS and Female Fratricide, taking Care of Environment, Celebration of National Festivals, Women Empowerment, Village Survey, Ayurvedic Garden etc. are organized during the year.

L.R. Valiya Arts and P.R. Mehta Commerce College, popularly known as “A College with a Difference,” was established in 1969 with the aim of imparting value-based education at an affordable cost. It primarily serves the people of the cultural city of Bhavnagar and its surrounding villages.

Library

Library

Library is a breathing heart of the college. Books, Magazines, periodicals, News Papers etc. are arranged property for the convenience of the students. Activities like consumer education, discussion group, and books exhibition, binding the magazines and taking care of them etc. are done regularly here. About 2500 books and 45 magazines are brought regularly in the library. Separate reading arrangements are available for the students as well as the professors in the library.

Our expert lecturers are using latest technology in teaching to make class room teaching live and interesting. They use different electronic aids like L.C.D. Projector, C.D. Players, OHP, Television, D.T.H., Tape Recorder, Computer, etc. Internet is used by the professors and students for collecting latest information and speedy communication. We are constantly trying to make Teaching-Learning process more powerful.

According to the government rules, the S.C., S.T., S.E.B.C. students are regularly getting the scholarships during academic year. Apart from that, the college is also managing "Poor Student Relief Fund". Under this activity, the needy students are given aid from this fund for fulfilling various academic needs.
